This day will forever live in my memory. I never imagined I would ever see something so beautiful as this. His name is General Sherman and he lives in the Sequoia National Park. We drove for a bit up the mountains until we reached the Sequoia reserve. The drive was bitter-sweet because we passed a lot of dead trees and grass along the way. I never wanted to see something like this. It broke my heart to see amazing giant trees drying in their extreme thirst. I made a prayer they get some much needed rain soon and continued my quest. My one fear is that the drying ground will continue to spread and could potentially reach these beautiful wonders. I will never lose hope.
I have been in love with trees since I can remember. Being surrounded by nature is where my zen is and for this reason I never want to leave their company. These are nature's amazing creations and for this reason they have my undying respect. Not even with my arms stretched out did I cover a portion of these enormous trees. General Sherman stands 275 feet tall and is over 36 feet in diameter at the base and weighs 4.188783 lbs! As for age, he's about 2,100 years old but we don't know for sure.
It was a long walk to finally reach these biggest trees in the world, but it was so worth it. I came to realize I was not in good shape at all but nothing mattered once I was there. My visit did not last long and before I knew it we were headed back.
I completely recommend visiting these amazing trees if you happen to be a tree lover! They are unforgettable, they are amazing and they are everything I ever dreamed of and so much more. They definitely are better in real life than in my dreams. Nothing could have prepared me for so much beauty. Now I will dream of a day I will return to see them.
