Love at First Sight

"I'm a PC girl, I will never get a macbook. Like Ever."

That was me talking when I was young naive and and I have since obviously swallowed my own words.  I GOT A MACBOOK PRO for Christmas! What?! I know.  I am still in shock but the time was coming and after three iPods, my third iPhone, and an iPad... this was the natural next step.  While this is NOT a comprehensive review on the actual macbook, I mean I just opened it, here is what I like about it so far.

Here is why Once you Go Mac, you Neva Go Back!
  1. It's pretty.  When I fist opened the box, the Oooh and Ahhhs were everywhere, really I have a video to prove it.  Yes, I'm the kind that videos the "first" of everything and this was no different.  I've never been "giddy" to own a pc.  I liked that the new pc would be fast or had a big HD and some decent ram but that's about it.  My old hp was never exciting to own, it just worked good.  That's it.  This macbook just feels awesome and I hadn't even turned it on yet! I mean come on, it's Apple.
  2. It's a whole new scene.  After I finally turned it on and I have played with it for a couple of days now, I still don't get half the things in it but that's what makes it exciting.  You can say I was suffering from PC boredom and let's be honest, the new Windows 8 is about the ugliest thing that's ever happened to a PC.  I never want to go there.  But then again that's what I said about a Mac so anyways. Moving on.
  3. I was starting to feel OLD.  Yes, you know how much I hate to do that and my new macbook rejuvenated my life! It brought joy and happiness unlike any I have ever experienced.  {sarcasm}
So aside from a macbook being the fountain of youth, I have to say there are things I do not like as well.  I am so new, I find myself saying "where is my photo album??!!!!" like every three minutes.  Yes, I have tons of learning but it will be fun to figure it out.  I will give a review for it that's actually useful later when I actually know how to use it.  Ugh, my geekhood is in serious jeopardy.

Two things I don't like from the start:  I can't find my Photo Album or organize them the way I want to and I don't have Microsoft Office with Windows Live Writer. The grandma in me just won't give up Office.  No, I just can't. One thing I'm scared of is that the machine will explode and die with all my information in it and I will feel old again.

See, not everything is unicorns and rainbows.  So as I deal with my phobias and my new found youth, I am gonna be strong and move on.  It's not easy being a MacVirgin these days but I gotta try. I'm sorta expecting this macbook to end up being something like my iPhone or iPad are. Indispensable in my life. And like my daughter said, "If you don't like it, you can always give it to me."  Aw, I don't know what I would do without youthful wisdom. I'll be a mac Pro in no time!

Merry Christmas to me! :)
