I'm turning into my mother! In a good way

So is it genetically in me to be this super clean person like my mother, or has it been due to learning it all my life? Like all nature/nurture dilemma, this one shall remain a mystery for the rest of my life. All I know is that it's good to be clean so I'm keeping it. :)

Teaching my girls healthy habits :)
Growing up I remember rolling my eyes at my mother for being so neat, clean and tidy. "What is the deal?" I thought to myself. "So what if there's junk all over my floor, it's MY floor!" Wrong-o! It wasn't MY floor, it was my mother's floor. I didn't understand that until now. As children, we are taught not to destroy what doesn't belong to us, and this was just one more example. For my mother her home is her 'thing', her reflection of self and a representation of who she is. I know this now, she meant well.

I didn't learn "the lesson" until now. Not like right NOW, now but now that I'm a mother. I had to clarify that. Now that I have my kids drop this here, spill this there and what seems like viciously rearrange every single little piece of something they can get their hands on. At the end of it all... it's gonna be ME ME ME who's gonna make it alright again.

To make a loong story short. I am so proud of her for teaching me this. She may not have known I was listening (the eye rolling thing) but I was. Loud and clear. And now that I'm a mom, it's all coming back to me, like the Celine Dion song says. And I can proudly say that I am also an awesome cook, a responsible parent and super cool to boot! Just ask my kids. And it's all thanks to my Mom, I owe all this to you! I LOVE YOU MOM! ;)

Now I'm grown. I have my rules, not so strict of course like my mother but I have them and I expect them to follow them. I may not get their full cooperation at times but I know it's going in their ears somewhere. I am hoping one day they too will remember this lesson in life, I've learned. It's cool to be clean-ish. So it's good to pass on to our kids whatever good habits your parents taught us and some we just wish they had.

For the time being though, I am getting a lot of the eye-rolling thing. :)
